Wood Innovation Design Centre

At the time of construction, the Wood Innovation and Design Centre (WIDC) was the tallest contemporary wood building in North America. As an iconic 6-storey wood structure, the WIDC showcases B.C.'s expertise and global reputation as a leader in wood construction, engineered wood products and design. It houses wood-related research facilities and classes with the University of Northern British Columbia, as well as office space for industry and government use.

AES’ role as electrical engineer for the compliance team included preparing the statement of requirements, and providing assistance to the owner during various phases, including pursuit, technical compliance review, proposal extract review, field compliance reviews and financial claims review.

AES was honoured to be recognized with an ACEC BC 2015 Award of Merit as the Owner's Technical Representative.
