SUNNY GHATAURAH

PRESIDENT, P.ENG., P.E., CLD, CTS, LEED AP BD+C

I approach each day at AES as an opportunity to establish new friendships, work with colleagues, and design projects that make me proud of our firm’s work.

With 25+ years of experience designing and building electrical, lighting, and low tension systems, I’ve had the privilege of working across a wide spectrum of projects, including commercial, institutional (education and health), and light industrial facilities. A particularly interesting project, the Okanagan College Centre for Excellence in Penticton, BC, required us to think beyond engineering and focus on occupants and behavior patterns. The client had a goal of LEED Platinum with a desire to achieve Net Zero energy. I remember speaking about architecture and finishes instead of electrical engineering.

My approach to design is to go beyond electrical systems, and focus on user behavior to achieve truly sustainable results. And my passion? Sustainable design. I am currently working on a variety of projects that are pursuing LEED Platinum and the Living Building Challenge.
