Burnaby Hospital
Burnaby Hospital has been an anchor to its community for almost 70 years, nestled amongst personal residences, quietly taking care of its people. To continue delivering patient-centred care to one of the province’s fastest growing municipalities, the hospital will undergo redevelopment to transform how staff are able to care for patients through access to state-of-the-art technology and an improved working environment. When completed, the expansion and renovation to existing buildings will increase capacity, create new jobs, and reduce wait times. This design-build project, valued at $1.4 billion across three phases, is among the province’s largest healthcare investments.
The project includes for a new Inpatient / outpatient Tower, renovations to and expansion of the Support Facilities Building, renovations to the Nursing Tower, renovations to the existing steam boiler plant, and supporting the demolition of the West Wing and Cascade Buildings.
AES’ scope of work for the project included electrical engineering, IMIT, security and audio-visual design services for phase one of the 3 phased project, valued at $616M.
